Birds and Breakfast is a fun event full of bird watching and camaraderie at various locations through the county. Each event will begin with a bird walk along a wildlife refuge or open space property, and then end with a trip to a local diner for breakfast. Register HERE

A list of birds seen at prior B+B's. Species seen include: Indigo Bunting, Great-Crested Flycatcher, Eastern Bluebird, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Scarlet Tanager, Northern Mockingbird, Grey Catbird, Tree Swallows, Northern Flicker, Red-Bellied Woodpecker, Wild Turkey, Red-eyed Vireo, Blue-grey Gnatcatcher, Hairy Woodpecker and the Chipping Sparrow. Warblers included the Common Yellowthroat, Northern Parula, Prairie Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Blackburnian Warbler, Blue-winged Warbler, Yellow Warbler, and the Louisiana Waterthrush.
Adopt-a-Bird Fundraiser All Year
As a participant in the Adopt –A-Bird program, you will receive a kit that contains: A beautiful certificate in appreciation of your donation, a color photograph and a fact sheet containing the natural history information about your species. If your bird turns up again in the years ahead, we will send you a special notice. It is very exciting for a researcher to have a banded bird recaptured.

The Great Monroe County Snipe Hunt October
This exciting birding quest will be great fun for birdwatchers of all ages and abilities. Start forming your teams now. The hunt will take place between the hours of 5 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday. All participants will look for birds on their own from Friday night until Saturday night - you can begin your search anywhere in Monroe County and you can bird for 24 hours or just a few minutes. The main thing is to have a good time!! We will meet at Kettle Creek at 5 pm on Saturday for the TALLY RALLY, and to enjoy some refreshments. Prizes will be awarded Anyone may join in the Snipe Hunt. We encourage you to form a team with your family and friends. Select a catchy team name and register with the Monroe County Environmental Education Center (570-629-3061). Cost is $15 per person (non-refundable). After we have received your registration & payment you receive:
1. Monroe County Snipe Hunt License for each member of your team. 2. Checklist of the birds of Monroe County. Each species will be worth points. The rarer the bird, the higher the point value. 3.
