Board of Directors Meeting
August 22, 2013

1. Call to order
2. Accounts balanced at $ 8541.84 at the end of July. $ 730 Accounts Receivable are due.  There is income of $150 to deposit this week. 
3. Director Report: a) PARC did hold a rental space for several months this spring.  The monthly rent was $500 and we were informed that the rent would go up before the end of the year.  The space was a benefit to us as we finished out the spring research season, but we felt that it was not being  utilized to its fullest potential, as a result we are again at the kitchen table.  I would appreciate hearing any thoughts on this matter, either positive or negative. b) We have not heard of any new interns for the fall.  We do have a great training manual in place for the start of the
season.  There are also several education programs lined up (one for the NEPA Audubon, and one for Promised Land State Park).  
 4. Education Committee: a) We are finishing up a series of walks at Tobyhanna State Park with a forest exploration walk this evening.  We had fairly good attendance at the walks overall.  I hope to be invited back again next year. 
These walks were all volunteer (unpaid) and carried no fee to the participants.  B) We have lined up several talks for Darryl to do on the subject of Nature Deficit Disorder.  These will be held on Monday nights at Skytop Lodge (September and October).  Feel free to attend.  
 5.  Research Committee: We are looking forward to owl banding at Skytop this fall.
The set up day will be October 1, 2013 (Tuesday late afternoon, Time TBA).  The Snipe Hunt will take place on October 4-5.  Get your teams together.
6.  Grants Committee: Everyone has heard that we were turned down for a grant from Cora Brooks Foundation. We need to work on some fundraising activities for the fall.  The web store is online, so please take a look at it and offer any
suggestions you may have.  I believe we should have Jake reset the donations to include some of higher value  and also an option for choosing your own amount. 
7. Audit Committee: We have released our 2012 budget numbers to the Bureau of
Charitable Organizations for renewal of our certificate.  I will be working on the current financial statements for the first half of 2013.
