Winter 2020 Greetings Naturalists, HAPPY NEW YEAR !!2020!! We are happy to greet this new year with much excitement, and time for birding. If you are outside this winter, be sure to take lots of photographs and memories. This fall was our 19th year of Project Owlnet. This research concerns the migratory ecology of the Northern Saw-whet Owl. 2019 brought thirty-two new owls, all in good health and released back into the wild to find their way south. For more information click here :Project Owlnet . If you would would like to be in involved in a bird count this year, contact us for helpful hints. Web sites for continent wide bird counts include the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Pennsylvania Society of Ornithologists, and National Audubon. We hope to see you at the Barrett Bird Club meetings every month (more information below). We have also been holding some learn to bird classes at the Kettle Creek Wildlife Sanctuary. If you have any requests for hikes, bird walks, and classes to hold this winter, let us know. Enjoy the cooler weather, some snow, and lots of birds. See you on the trail. Jackie
Barrett Birding Club : The club meets on the second Tuesday of the month, at 7 pm at the Friendly Community Center (http://www.thefriendlycommunitycenter.org/). Each month we discuss where to go birding, different birding tools, and more. You do not need to be an expert to join us, just have an interest in learning more about birds. We hope to see you there.
