April/ May 2019
Springtime is here. Dust off your binoculars and keep an eye out for returning migrants such as fox sparrows that will only visit our yards for a few days. American goldfinches, black-capped chickadees, woodpeckers, and all kinds of sparrows have been with us all winter, but they will spruce up their plumage and engage in some beautiful singing. Before long, there will be new bird nests in the yard. The young birds will be hopping around , calling to mom, and playing with siblings under the spruce and oak trees. I hope you enjoy the beautiful display. Let us know if you see anything extra exciting in your yard. Call us, or join us at the Barrett Bird Club (see information below), and have a chance to share with a fabulous birding community.
Check in with our monthly calendar of events, and join us at any of our programs. We look forward to each activity and to being outside to enjoy the changes of nature. SEE our new activities calendar!!
Barrett Birding Club : The club meets on the second Tuesday of the month, at 7 pm at the Friendly Community Center (http://www.thefriendlycommunitycenter.org/). Each month we discuss where to go birding, different birding tools, and more. You do not need to be an expert to join us, just have an interest in learning more about birds. We hope to see you there.
Be sure to contact us if you see any interesting birds, and keep an eye on your feeders - this may be a good year to see evening grosbeak and other winter specialties.
See you on the trail,
