Fall/ Winter 2019 Greetings Naturalists, The Fall is an ideal time to get outside and explore. The colorful leaves, and variety of plants and wildlife in Pennsylvania is a treasure trove. Anytime you are out on the trail, be sure to take photographs and memories. This fall we are involved in our 19th year of Project Owlnet. This research concerns the migratory ecology of the Northern Saw-whet Owl. For more information click here :Project Owlnet . If you would would like to be in involved in a bird count this fall, contact us for helpful hints. Web sites for continent wide bird counts include the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Pennsylvania Society of Ornithologists, and National Audubon. We hope to see you at the Barrett Bird Club meetings every month (more information below). We have also been holding some learn to bird classes at the Kettle Creek Wildlife Sanctuary. If you have any requests for hikes, bird walks, and classes to hold this winter, let us know. Enjoy the cooler weather, some snow, and lots of birds. See you on the trail. Jackie
Barrett Birding Club : The club meets on the second Tuesday of the month, at 7 pm at the Friendly Community Center (http://www.thefriendlycommunitycenter.org/). Each month we discuss where to go birding, different birding tools, and more. You do not need to be an expert to join us, just have an interest in learning more about birds. We hope to see you there.
