Bluebird Nest Box Project with Troop 194
October 20, 2012
The nesting season is over, but eastern bluebirds will spend the winter in our area. Be sure to look around for flocks of bluebirds in your local parks and fields. Learn more about bluebirds with the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. I can't wait until next spring.
Your troop did a wonderful job of providing homes for wildlife. Be sure to clean out the boxes in the late winter and watch for nesting pairs throughout the spring and summer.-Jackie Speicher

This summer has been wonderful. Your nest boxes have added color to the parks where we placed them. I know there hasn't been much activity inside them, and the nesting season for bluebirds is coming to a close. When you check your box, be sure to look around and make observations on all of the other natural events going on. Take and share some photos. Have a picnic lunch. Be sure to send your reports to the website by using the comment form below. Now that you have provided these homes, the birds will be using them in the future. Sometimes we just have to wait. - Jackie Speicher

Today we met at the Roof in Paradise Township for the next part of the Bronze Award Project. Boxes that we made weeks ago have been beautifully painted and decorated by Girl Scout Troop 194. I'm really glad that everyone was able to select the perfect tree for their box. Be sure to have a fun summer, check your boxes, and keep in touch with any activity you see around your box.
Thank you to troop leader Denise Pomeroy.
