The fall months have arrived, and it is time to look for migrating birds. Please join us for some of these upcoming events, or just share your photos and your experiences on our Facebook page. And most importantly, don't forget to join us for owl banding this fall.
OWL Banding research. We will once again be at the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center with our annual study Project Owlnet. We will have the center open on the Friday nights in October and November for visitors to learn more about owls and our research. The dates are listed below. Please call Kettle Creek at 570-629-3061 to register for this program. Friday night programs from 8-10 pm: October 12, October 19, October 26, November 2.
Barrett Birding Club : The club meets on the second Tuesday of the month, at 7 pm at the Friendly Community Center (http://www.thefriendlycommunitycenter.org/). This month we will be meeting at the OWL banding station (call for directions). The topic is Northern Saw-whet Owl migration and study. We hope to see you there.
October 24 (7 pm). Owls in Migration program at the Nature Conservancy Hauser Nature Center in Long Pond. Join us at the headquarters building for the Nature Conservancy on Long Pond Road for this interesting presentation on the migration of owls through the Poconos. Our researchers have been observing and monitoring the owls migration for over 15 years. Join us for our education program about these interesting birds.
October 27 (7:30 pm): the fall Water Wiser program brings us to the Skywood Park open space property in Cresco for a relaxing evening of Stargazing: discover the night sky. Register with the Brodhead Watershed Association at 570.839.1120
